This guide shows how pages on The Perfect Tower II Wiki are written and laid out, so that every page reads like part of the same book. Copy the layouts below when you start a page.

Writing

  • The game is right. Check facts in the game, and say which version you checked with {{Checked|v1.0.15}}. If you know a page is wrong but can't fix it yet, add {{Outdated|reason=…}} and say what differs.
  • Exact numbers, with the version. Write "401 modules in v1.0.15", not "400+ modules". {{GAMEVERSION}} gives the current version (now v1.0.15), and {{Game version}} links it to the changelog.
  • Only the released game. Describe what players can find in the current version. Leave out anything found in game files or not released yet.
  • Secrets behind spoilers. Hidden content, solutions and puzzle answers go inside <spoiler>…</spoiler>, or {{Inline spoiler|…}} within a sentence. A page that is mostly spoilers starts with {{Spoiler warning}}.
  • Plain English, US spelling. Short sentences, "color" and "center". Write for players, not for other editors.
  • Scripts, not AI. Call the in-game automation scripts. Use its in-game name, Facility AI, only where players need it to find the feature.
  • Names as in the game. Buildings, modules, regions and resources keep the game's spelling and capitals: Trading Post, Statue of Cubos, Military Tier.

Page layouts

Start every page with one sentence that says what the thing is and when players meet it. Then the details, then tips, then links.

Building

{{Building|Image=Lab.png|Tier=6|ConversionRate=400|Color=Green}}
{{Checked|v1.0.15}}
The '''Laboratory''' is a building where you run experiments that unlock modules and elemental bonuses.

Hub

A page that leads to other pages, such as Buildings: a short introduction, then cards.

The '''Buildings''' of the town each run their own part of the game.

{{Hub grid|
{{Hub card|title=Laboratory|facility=laboratory|mark=VI|text=Twelve experiments that unlock modules and elemental bonuses.|meta=Max. tier VI}}
{{Hub card|title=Regions|text=15 regions, each with its own enemies, challenges and module drops.}}
}}

Templates

Template Use it for
{{Notice|type=tip|text=…}} A box for a tip, info or warning (type=tip, info or warning)
{{Checked|v1.0.15}} The game version the page's facts were checked against
{{Outdated|reason=…}} A page that may no longer match the game
{{Stub}}, {{Section stub}} A page or section that doesn't cover its topic yet
{{Spoiler warning}}, {{Spoiler hatnote}} A page or section full of spoilers
{{Historical}} A page about features that are gone from the game
{{Main|Factory/Recipes}} Under a heading: the page that covers the topic in full
{{See also|Modules}} Closely related pages
{{Facility|Laboratory}} A building's name as a chip in its color
{{Element|Fire}}, {{Resource|Green}} Element and resource icons
{{Number|1.2e7}}, {{Cost|4.5e7|Green}} Large numbers as in the game, such as 1.2E712 M, sorted correctly in tables
{{Hub grid|…}}, {{Hub card|…}} Cards that lead to other pages
Tip
Each template's page explains its parameters, and the visual editor lists them when you insert the template.

Tables

  • Use class="wikitable", and add sortable when readers compare rows.
  • Put the column labels in the first row (!) and the data below (|). Don't use header cells for data.
  • Don't set colors in style="". The wiki has a light and a dark theme, and a color that reads well in one is often unreadable in the other. Use the icons, {{Facility}} or a word instead.
  • Don't make tables narrow by hand. A table that is wider than the page scrolls sideways on its own.

Images

  • Use screenshots from the current version, without other windows or overlays.
  • Describe what matters in the picture in the caption or the text around it.

Categories

Add one main category at the end of the page: Category:Buildings, Category:Regions, Category:Guides or Category:Events. The notice templates add their own maintenance categories.

Questions

Ask on Discord, or on the talk page of the page you want to change.
